Marine Chemical Ecology aims to increase our understanding of chemically mediated interactions in marine communities, to determine bottom-up effects on communities and ecosystems. Marine Chemical Ecology | University of Gothenburg, It is an interdisciplinary research group that combines expertise in ecology, chemistry, evolution, microbiology, genetics, and hydrodynamics. We use experimental ecology approaches and combine these with state-of-the-art analytics such as the isolation and characterization of metabolites, and exploration of signal propagation in our hydromechanical laboratory.

Signals in the Sea performs hypothesis driven research in pelagic chemical ecology . We isolate and identify signal molecules, explore how they are transmitted and what effect they have in the responding organisms and in the pelagic ecosystem. The project is multicisciplinary, with chemists and biologists working together on the same research questions.

Marine Chemical Ecology , MARICE, brings together researchers in biology, chemistry and biohydrodynamics to collaborate and improve the understanding of chemically mediated interactions between marine organisms and their environment.

MARICE has a unique national position in basic marine chemical ecology research and is also one of the internationally leading nodes within its research area.
